Weekend Retreats at Loudwater Farm


Loudwater Farm offers the perfect venue for small to medium sized groups looking to hold either full weekend residential retreats or one day retreats. The venue boasts three acres of peaceful wooded grounds along with overnight acommodation, all set within a tranquil English country farm setting.

Our guestrooms currently offer a basic overnight accomodation for up to 10 people in twin, double, or dormitory style bedrooms each with spectacular views overlooking the Chess River.

Relax on one of our sunny patios, go paddling in the river, or tell stories and stargaze in a tranquil country farm setting.

If you would like to host your retreat at Loudwater Farm, please contact us early as we can book up fast. We can offer space for retreats from Friday afternoon 3pm - Sunday 6pm and we are open all year round (except Christmas and New Year). We would be pleased to offer you:

Prices & Information:

For weekend retreats we charge as follows:

Rates: £600 total for hire of one Hall for 2 days (ie. £300 per day).

Access is from 3pm on Friday - until 6pm on Sunday (inclusive).

The bedrooms are then £25 per person per night if sharing a room, or £30 per night for a single occupancy room, if you provide your own breakfasts.

Alternatively, the price is £35 per person per night if sharing a room, or £40 per person per night for a single occupancy room if you wish us to provide a simple self service breakfast.

Please note we currently have a maximum of 10 beds if sharing, or 5 rooms if each person has a room to themselves.

The bedrooms themselves are all either in the main house or annexes, and are mainly twin, double-bedded, or dormitory rooms. They are not en-suite, but there are usually plenty of toilets/showers for everyone.

Catering & Other:

You may use our shared kitchen for your catering and eating requirements.

Please note the hire of the Hall is exclusive, but the kitchen, lounge and grounds are non-exclusive.

There is a £100 booking deposit, with the remainder payable prior to the event.

 


One Day Retreats:

We can also offer day retreats / or day workshops on some Saturdays throughout the year (depending on availability, please just ask).

The cost for a one day retreat is £300 for the day (9-5pm inclusive) and includes exclusive hire of the Hall, plus use of the shared kitchen.

General Hire terms:

A minimum number of 6 people accommodated overnight are required to book a retreat.

A maximum number of 10 people can currently be accomodated overnight at the venue.

You may also have day visitors who might be participating who are not staying overnight - this is fine and you may have up to a maximum of 25 people on-site participating in total (ie. this total would include the maximum of 10 people staying overnight).

Weekend hire times are: Friday access from 3pm - Sunday depart by 6pm.

The A-Z of Staying at Loudwater Farm:

Airports: Heathrow - Although Heathrow is a mere 17 miles away, (drive South on the M25 and follow signs to Terminals 1-5), it can take between 25 minutes and 2 hours to get there – the traffic is notorious and difficult to predict, so always allow for at least an hour. Luton - Is just 30 minutes away, drive North on the M25, leave at Junction 21 for the M1 and follow signs to Luton Airport.

Gatwick - Follow the M25 South. Leave the M25 at Junction 7, then join the M23 motorway. Leave the M23 at Junction 9 and then follow signs to Gatwick North or South Terminals.

Alternatively there are regular trains from Watford Junction (a 10 minute taxi ride from Loudwater Farm) bound for Gatwick, Luton and Heathrow. For train timetables visit: www.nationalrail.co.uk

Airport Bus: If you are travelling by air, there is a useful bus service that goes from Heathrow Airport to Rickmansworth Station, approx once per hour – the No 724 coach (Green Line) – for more details visit: www.greenline.co.uk


Internet Access

There is free wireless broadband at the Farm – just type in the password which can be found above the kettle on the wall in the kitchen.


Kitchen Use

Feel free to store food in the allocated fridge, however please throw away any leftovers or donate it to the communal drawers.

Please refrain from leaving food exposed as it is an invitation to little furry friends.

The kitchen is fully furnished with utensils. The halls are exclusive but the kitchen and lounge are shared, so please make sure that all areas are clean and tidy and wash up after use. All the kitchen appliances for your use are expected to be used with care. Any damage caused other than by general wear and tear will be your responsibility to pay for.


Laundry

Used bed linen and towels should be placed on the floor by the bed.


Maps

An A-Z road map of Great Britain is located in the top cupboard in the Lounge; please do not remove it, along with other maps and useful information on the local area.


General

Please have consideration that other people will likely be staying in the house with you. There may also be other people staying in other areas of the house and so please:

a) Keep noise down and avoid noise before 8am & after 11pm.
c) Pets are not allowed at Loudwater Farm.
d) Candles are not allowed in the building.

Shopping & Buying Food

The nearest town is Rickmansworth, which is a 20-25 minute walk away. There are also two supermarkets, Waitrose and Marks & Spencers – as well as a local butchers and grocers etc. For Banks: there is a Barclays, HSBC and a Natwest, all on the main High Street.


Smoking

Please note the whole house including your room is a no smoking area. However there are buckets located outside that you may use to dispose of cigarettes.


Taxis

Boughtons Taxi's – Rickmansworth Taxis Firm, which operate from directly outside the train station, call: 01923 896060.


Trains

The nearest train station is Rickmansworth, which is on the London Underground Metropolitan Line. It is a 20 minute walk or 3 minute taxi ride to Rickmansworth tube station. Trains take 26 minutes to Marylebone, London or 35 minutes to Baker Street, London. For train timetables visit: www.nationalrail.co.uk or for London Undergound (tube) services visit: www.tfl.gov.uk. For National Rail, Watford Junction is a 15 minute drive away.

There is a pleasant 30 minute circular walk around the farm. Just ask for details.
